Polar Circle Marathon

Polar Circle Marathon

Set in the arctic tundra and Greenland Ice Sheet, the Polar Circle Marathon is one of our most exclusive marathon events.

Due to the remote location in Greenland, race participation is capped at a total of 240 runners for the half and full marathon distances. As our second oldest race, the Polar Circle Marathon has grown steadily in popularity and sells out very early each year.

The marathon takes place on Saturday and the half marathon is held on Sunday. Participants can run both distances and thereby complete the Polar Bear Challenge. The race takes place partially on the Greenland Ice Sheet and through a stunning landscape of glacier tongues and arctic tundra. Temperatures vary between -15 to -5 degrees Celsius.
